We were tasked with removing a bee infestation from the chimney of a listed building, which required meticulous care due to its historical significance. We conducted a thorough inspection to identify the infestation and safely set up scaffolding around the chimney. Wearing full protective gear, we carefully removed the Cotswold stone to create access points at the top and bottom of the chimney. Using a smoker and a bee vacuum, we gently captured the bees and removed hive materials, safely lowering the bees down a hole created in the chimney breast. After cleaning the area to remove residual honey and pheromones, we replaced the Cotswold stone like-for-like to maintain the building's integrity and sealed all entry points to prevent future infestations. The process ensured the safe removal of the bees while preserving the historical structure, with a follow-up inspection to confirm the area was secure.
